Marco ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Marco mobile application ("App") collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
Marco is designed with privacy at its core. We collect as little data as possible.
1.1 Bluetooth Scan Data
When you use the App, it scans for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices. The data collected during scanning includes:
- Device names (as broadcast by BLE advertisements)
- Signal strength (RSSI values)
- Device identifiers (UUIDs broadcast by devices)
This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any external server. Scan data is held in memory during active use and is not stored persistently unless you choose to save a device.
1.2 Saved Devices
If you save a device for future reference, the device name and identifier are stored locally on your device. This data is never uploaded or shared.
1.3 Location Data
Your operating system may require location permission to perform Bluetooth scanning. Marco does not access, store, or transmit your GPS location. The location permission is used solely to satisfy platform requirements for BLE scanning.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Marco does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Account or login credentials
- GPS or precise location data
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
- Advertising identifiers
- Contacts, photos, or other device data
3. How We Use Information
All Bluetooth scan data is used exclusively to:
- Display nearby devices in the App interface
- Classify devices into categories (Audio, Wearables, Trackers)
- Group devices by proximity zones (Right Here, Nearby, Far Away)
- Provide real-time signal strength feedback
No data is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the core functionality of finding Bluetooth devices.
4. Data Storage & Security
All data processed by Marco remains on your device. We do not operate servers that receive, store, or process user data. Saved device information is stored using your device's local storage mechanisms and is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, biometrics, encryption).
5. Third-Party Services
Marco does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The App does not contain ads and does not share data with any third parties.
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and terms of service.
6. Children's Privacy
Marco does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect personal information from any user, there is no age-specific data concern. However, the App is intended for general audiences.
7. Your Rights
Since Marco does not collect or store personal data on external servers, there is no user data for us to access, modify, or delete on our end. Any locally stored data (such as saved devices) can be deleted by:
- Removing saved devices within the App
- Clearing the App's data through your device settings
- Uninstalling the App
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
